Dalene Flooring Carpet One has served Connecticut families and communities for over 75 years. We are a local fourth-generation family business that provides fine flooring products, installation and superior customer service.
We are involved in the local community through the sponsorship of many youth organizations, Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army and Susan G. Komen Foundation. We actively participate in the (Home Builder’s Association) HBA, which helps organizations like Habitat for Humanity and the Channel 3 kids camp.
We’ve been honored to be part of many projects throughout the state, as well as being recognized by industry and our local community.

Winner of the 2024 WFB Design Awards “Best Commercial Floor” at the Maritime Center for Excellence at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
“The design measuring 25 feet from point to point was laser-cut from engineered wood flooring. “Teak was selected as the primary species for the flooring because of its connection with naval vessels, as well as the durability and beauty it provides as a flooring product,” Minite says. Engineered wenge provides the darker accent wood.
The pieces were laser-cut, dry-fit and palletized for shipment, and then South Windsor, Conn.-based Dalene Flooring did the installation, sanding and finishing. The flooring had been presanded at the factory but was given a final sanding and coated on-site with commercial-grade waterborne finish.
The completed wood floor fits with the mission to impress. “The finished project is visually stunning and very impressive to see in person, as it beautifully incorporates within the full design of the new building along the water,” Minite says.

The old #ThomasHaleHouse on Main Street in Glastonbury is coming along with the beautiful 300 year old original exterior sheathing wood boards milled to 3/8” thickness. They had removed the original clapboard siding to expose the wide plank sheathing which was a mixture of chestnut and white oak. They then have highlighted the wood in a gorgeous inlaid pattern in the center. We're waiting for the perfect piece to complete the look.

We were proud to be part of a renovation for the Stratton family, here in Manchester, CT. The show, George to the Rescue, teamed up with NASCAR and star driver Joey Logano to spearhead a once-in-a-lifetime renovation for deserving homeowners and their child with cerebral palsy and epilepsy.
Check out their beautiful red oak floors throughout the first floor. Thank you Newquist Construction for having us be part of this project!
Dalene Flooring retail stores were each presented with a plaque which held a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. We are honored to display these in our store as being part of the Building for America’s Bravest Program – helping by providing flooring and funds towards our veterans.

The Stephen Valyou project was certainly special to be part of. We had the pleasure of meeting him and hearing his story back in 2015. When we went out to the property to have a ceremony in honor of Stephen Valyou, what we witnessed was impressive. Stephen, shows up, in his backhoe, and digs the first ground on the property. What a momentous way to start this project!

Our very own, Steve Dalene, CEO of Dalene Flooring was given a prestigious recognition this past week from our cooperative, Carpet One Floor & Home.
The Alan Greenberg Award recognizes the member who most embodies the Carpet One spirit and who best represents what CCA Global Partners, Alan Greenberg, stood for. It’s based on overall participation in programs, contributions to the cooperative and support of fellow members during the previous year.

This year’s Alan Greenberg Award winner, Steve Dalene, was a member of Carpet One Floor & Home’s Advisory Council. His Business – Dalene Flooring Carpet One Floor & Home – was started in 1949, and Steve is part of the fourth generation of Dalene’s who are actively involved in the business, that is over 66 years!
Steve is very active with his Regional Network Group (RNG), taking a leadership role in creating custom trainings and installer certifications. He invests in training to help his employees grow both personally and professionally. Employees are treated as family members and customers are treated as friends.
Steve’s stores have been awarded Best In Flooring, by Best of Hartford Magazine for five consecutive year.
Steve is also involved in his local community. He spearheaded a Homes for the Troops house in Ellington for a wounded vet and contributes yearly to the local community through the sponsorship of many youth organizations, Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army and Susan G. Komen Foundation.
As an active participant in the Home Builder’s Association (HBA), Steve helps organizations like Habitat for Humanity and the Channel 3 kids camp. His stores have partnered with Building For America’s Bravest to construct a home for Stephen Valyou in Millerton, NY.
He is joined at work by his wife, Micky; son, Rich and daughter, Alexi. He also works with his two sisters, several nephews and extended family that work throughout the business. He is a proud grandfather to 8 grandchildren.

Working with Triumph Engine Control Systems, Dalene Flooring provided and installed new flooring in The Village after-school classroom in October 2015. We were delighted to be part of the project and provide a rich learning environment for kids each and every day.

The Basketball Development Center, which is scheduled to open this summer, will boast 24,000 sq ft of Robbins Bio-Channel Classic flooring installed by Robbins exclusive dealer in CT, Dalene Flooring. Both the men and women’s teams will each have a court of their own to practice on. Because of the excellence we strive for in building the best floor system on the market, at Robbins, we not only build floors, we build champions. Beneath the surface of a shiny hardwood floor with gamelines and school logos, is a well engineered subfloor consisting of just the right amount of mechanical features that provide protection for the athlete. The subfloor build-up is critical to the longterm health of the athlete since the floor can have a significant impact on joints, muscles, and the endurance of the player. Proper construction of the floor is a science, and with over 100 years of continued improvement to the mechanics of our floors, Robbins understands what is necessary to achieve a floor that not only looks great on camera, but also improves performance and enhances endurance of the athlete.

Dalene Flooring was featured on Better Connecticutas we toured our customer’s new custom-built home. The flooring throughout their house was done exclusively by Dalene Flooring.
From the Armstrong American Hand-scraped Hardwood throughout the first floor, to the kitchen backsplash, their home featured gorgeous product from Dalene Flooring. We also did the Master bath tile and custom built shower, carpeting in the Master Bedroom and carpeting throughout the upstairs.

Dalene Flooring is proud to count Uconn as a valued customer as we complete projects that include Gampel Pavilion and the new practice facility, the Basketball Development Center, on Uconn’s campus.
Over the past 24 years, Uconn and Robbins have teamed up for not only their game floor, but several other recreational areas as well. And with the construction of a brand new 78,000 sq ft Basketball Development Center underway, the Huskies will be well equipped to continue their winning streak in the next basketball season.

Dalene Flooring was proud to be part of the Homes For Heroes project for USMC Sergeant Greg Caron which provided a custom built home specially adapted to meet his needs in Ellington, CT in 2013. Read about his story and watch the FOX news broadcast featuring Caron.
We were able to work with our vendors to provide the flooring and floor installation throughout the home which was outfitted with tile, hardwood and vinyl planks. We’re proud to support our troops as they courageously fight to maintain our freedom and serve this country.

In July, 2013, Dalene Flooring worked with Bona to refinish the school gym at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School in New London, Conn. It was part of a charitable event with WNBA Cares, to dedicate a middle school basketball court during the WNBA All-star weekend.
Summer 2013
An innovative mixed use project in Simbury, brings new life to The Mill at Hopbrook. This new project by Nelson Construction, incorporated 20 luxury town homes, 88 upscale apartments, a restaurant and office space. The Developer, Chris Nelson, used local suppliers including Dalene Flooring, whereever he could.
The flooring throughout this project was done by Dalene Flooring and we were happy to be part of revitalizing this part of Simsbury, CT
